“Fragmentia”
2012-2015

“Fragmentia” is a series of fragmented jacquard tapestry weavings that embody the idea that the visual culture of the past is only ever handed down to the present in pieces and never in wholes. Using Flemish and Italian allegorical figures as a vehicle by which to personify art history, its characters, and its movements, the tattered textiles in this series are layers upon layers of different pieces of a picture that is never fully disclosed.
